STAFF STRUCTURE
Professional Staff Overview
Our staff consists of the central office management team and the program teams at each of our school program sites. The Management Team works primarily out of our central office in Milpitas, California. Functional areas of this office include: Operations Management, Development, and Program Design, Evaluation, and Operations. The team of 15 full-time professionals holds degrees in fields such as Recreation Management, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Sociology, Psychology, and Cultural Studies. In addition, several hold graduate degrees in Teaching, Counseling, Social Work, Law, and Non-profit Management. Beyond their education, this team brings over 40 years of combined teaching and youth development experience to their work everyday.
The Program Teams are comprised of a Site Supervisor, a Lead Instructor, and Several Youth Instructors (the exact number per school based on a 20:1 student-instructor ratio). These teams are tasked with not only implementing the program design model at their schools, they are also empowered to design curriculum within that design to meet the needs of their school and the interests of their students. Every staff member is certified in CPR and First Aid, and all of them have completed at least 48 units of college coursework and/or passed the No Child Left Behind Instructional Aide Basic Skills Exam. In addition to these requirements, each staff member receives at least 40 hours of additional professional development each school year. Our program teams are a diverse group of individuals – many of whom come from the communities they have chosen to serve, and able to speak the dominant languages of their school – dedicated to the development of every child we serve.
All staff members, regardless of position, participate in our semi-annual professional development review process, which focuses on constantly improving individual performance and strengthening collective impact.
